Our Demands

1. Economic Policy – A people-centered economy based on need, equitable distribution, local resources, and freedom from exploitation.

2. Cooperation – Promotion of cooperative ownership in agriculture, industry, housing, and dairy to ensure collective prosperity and economic democracy.

3. Agriculture – Farmers will receive fair prices, support for cooperative farming, sustainable resource management, and employment-oriented modernization.

4. Employment and Human Development – Every individual should have access to dignified employment, skill development, moral education, and opportunities for entrepreneurship.

5. Education – Free, quality, value-based education integrating science, technology, morality, and Neo-Humanist ideals while preserving mother tongues.

6. Health – Affordable and accessible healthcare for all, with emphasis on preventive medicine and special attention to rural and tribal communities.

7. Social Justice – Equal dignity and opportunities for women, Dalits, tribals, and marginalized communities, with the elimination of all forms of discrimination.

8. Environment- Protection of nature through sustainable development, renewable energy, and community stewardship of natural resources.

9. Democracy and Governance – Ethical leadership, decentralization, public participation, transparency, and corruption-free administration.

Public Appeal – The movement calls upon the people of Maharashtra to unite for a just, exploitation-free, and human-centered society inspired by the principles of PROUT.

The Pragatishil Sahyadri Samaj region comprises Western Maharashtra, North Maharashtra (Khandesh), Marathwada, and parts of the Konkan region, covering 23 districts including Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Kolhapur, Solapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nanded, and others. Spread across approximately 2.5 lakh square kilometres, the region includes diverse geographical features such as the Arabian Sea coast, the Western Ghats, the Deccan Plateau, and fertile agricultural plains. It is home to nearly 10 crore people and serves as Maharashtra’s most important economic, administrative, educational, and cultural zone.


The region enjoys a literacy rate of about 85% and has a vast educational network comprising more than 80,000 schools, thousands of colleges, and over 35 universities. Agriculture remains a key occupation, with major crops including sugarcane, cotton, soybean, grapes, onions, bananas, and pulses. The region is also a leader in dairy production, horticulture, and cooperative farming. Supported by extensive irrigation systems, road and rail networks, airports, ports, banking institutions, and modern communication facilities, it contributes significantly to Maharashtra’s overall development.


Pragatishil Sahyadri Samaj is also the industrial and financial powerhouse of Maharashtra, hosting major sectors such as automobiles, information technology, pharmaceuticals, engineering, petrochemicals, manufacturing, and services. The region has a rich historical and cultural heritage associated with great personalities such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, Savitribai Phule, and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. Renowned heritage sites including Ajanta and Ellora Caves, Raigad Fort, Shivneri Fort, and Shaniwar Wada, along with vibrant traditions, festivals, folk arts, and literature, make this region one of India’s most dynamic and culturally significant areas.
